About Me
For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with human anatomy. The mere ability of the body to function at even a basic level mystified me. As such, throughout my life I have found myself steered in the direction of science, especially biology and chemistry. For a couple of years I studied science at Melbourne University but found I was unable to satisfy an innate drive to care for others.
It was while I studied my Nursing degree that I first heard the phrase that has driven my practice to this day. The primary goal of health care is to enable an individual to reach their full health potential with minimal intervention. For the past 20 years that I having been working as a nurse, predominantly in the Emergency Department, I have kept this principle in the forefront of all care I have provided.
As a mother to three highly spirited girls I have always wished for them to grow happy and healthy, however, we know this is not always possible. Environmental, circumstantial and biological factors effect how we grow, develop and live. NIS has allowed me to find a way to aid their health and development as well provide care for those in the community I love.
I passionately believe that everything and everyone is connected in some way. If you take the time to look and ‘listen’ for interruptions to these connections there is always a way to have a positive impact on somebody’s life.
